Sarah B & Paige! Outlander (sp)

I'm about halfway through Drums of Autumn (#4) and I'm so sucked in. Again. I really just want to pull my Nook out and read right all the time.

Briana just boarded a ship from Inverness to America. Roger is getting ready to board a ship to America. I am so mad that they didn't go through the stone together! Briana should have told Roger. He would have went with her, obviously.

I loved seeing her with the Frasers in Lallybrook. I also loved that we got to see how much Ian and Jenny do like Claire and how happy they really were to have her back because in Voyager that did not come across at all.

Oh, and, I think I like LJG a bit more now that I've seen him in this book and he and Claire seem to understand each other a bit more. I still don't love him (because I don't love anything with the potential of getting in between Jamie and Claire), but he's not so bad.

Right now I'm mainly concerned with Briana finding Jamie and Claire and then Roger finding Briana. I can't wait for the scene where she finds Jamie and Claire (because it has to happen, DG can't deprive me of that). I'm sure there will be some roadblocks, but it's going to be great to see Jamie meeting his daughter for the first time.

Anyway, now I'm rambling. I just thought I'd give you a bit of an update on my thoughts after another 500 pages of Outlander.

  • I love this post!!! It gets sooooooo good. DG will toss in her share of roadblocks but holy cow is it worth it.

LJG isn't my fav character but he isn't bad. He isn't my least fav either.

I adore Ian and Jenny. I think they are so cute. And I agree I am happy that she showed their feeligns about Claire.

At the time I read the book I was so sad she didn't tell Roger, I understood but I was sad. After knowing what happens I'm glad she didn't. It is so good! haha

Oh, you're evil! I really really hope they get reunited. I actually might cry if they don't. Do I get to find whatever this is about out in this book or do I have to wait?

Also, I'm not sure if I like Willie. I like him for Jamie's sake, but I don't like him because of how he was "created".

I read Outlander earlier this year, and started Dragonfly a few months ago, but put it down to read a bunch of books in my Nook library (Hunger Games/book club books). I really should pick it back up!

  • Ok the answer wasn't on wikipedia but I just so happen to be reading The Outlandish Companion and have it sitting next to my chair so I checked there. You will get your answer in this book Jo.

Sarah after our talk the other day I'm surprised you haven't yet.

Do you guys like young Jamie or older Jamie better?

I like how Jamie has evolved. He's been through SO much, yet he stays consistant in his beliefs. I also love how his relationship with Claire has evolved over time as well. I'm really curious what's going to happen in book 8. Did you read that clip, Paige? between Jamie and LJG?

I need the Outlandish Companion. I think I'd rather have that one in paper, than e-book. I have all 7 books on e-book and hardcover LOL The hardcovers stay at my mom's house.

  • I just love Jamie period. I don't know if I could chose a better version of Jamie. How did she dream up such a wonderful man?

I did read that clip and I can't wait to find out what happens. With that entire situation.

I have all the books as e-books and Outlandish Companion as a Hardcover.... and I just got the 20th Anniversary Edition of Outlander in a leatherbound hardcover.... signed. Yes I splurged but I had to. I think it is funny that your hardcovers stay at your moms. I think someday in my dream library this series will be on its own shelf with special lighting and alarms if anyone gets too close. ;) kidding... about the alarms anyway.

  • I think I just like Jamie. Period. Embarrassed

I like younger Jamie and older Jamie for different reasons. I liked younger him because of how gosh darn cute and innocent he still was even with everything that he had lived though. I really like older him because of how he is with Claire. I love when she talks about things from the future and he is baffled, or when she is explaining things to him. What I wouldn't have given to have them stay together and raise a child from birth. I would have loved to read about that.

How old does Jamie get in the books? Right now I think he is 45 or so. I have no idea what year the books go to.

Also, signed Anniversary Edition?? Where can I get one of those? I'm going to have to buy this series and a nice hardcover set because it really is such a great series and I love buying good series. I've been getting them in e-book from the library.

  • I don't know how someone could not like Jamie. He is seriously sexy.

At the end of Echo he is about 58. (And just as sexy.)

I got the signed one from a bookshop local to DG.

    http://www.poisonedpen.com/products/hfiction/9780440423201/?searchterm=outlander

It took over a month to get it because she has been on book tours (instead of finishing book 8 :( haha) but it was worth the wait. It also came with a copy of a CD of the Outlander musical.

  • So worth $35, Paige. I'm trying to stop myself, but I will probably buy it tomorrow. The only thing is, I don't think I'll be able to bring myself the crease it by reading it! Haha!

Oh I never said I was going to read it. haha. Didn't you see my post above about a special shelf and lights and an alarm system? Wink Seriously though those books are heavy I will stick with reading them on my Kindle.

And our talking about this the last couple days has made me check my "clippings" (Things I hilighted on the kindle) and book 5 has some amazing quotes. Just to get you even more excited for what is to come. hehehe (evil laugh)
