I read your post below about the picture chart that you have K follow before school in the mornings. I think Maya could benefit from this. Well, in all honestly it's probably more for me than her
She can do everything on her own except for getting breakfast ready and doing her hair, but I have to give her constant reminders about what to do next.
Did you find a template online or make something on your own? I don't have a lot of time to do something original and creative right now. Do you give any rewards for staying on task, like a sticker or something?
I would probably - need wake up, make bed, use bathroom, wash hands, eat breakfast, get dressed, brush teeth, do hair, put on shoes, get stuffed animal.
Thanks!
Re: Mrs.Reem - morning schedule chart
Butting in, but we have something similar for Sophia that I just made in a Word document and used clip art for. Hers has make bed and a picture of a bed, brush teeth with a picture of a toothbrush, brush hair with a picture of a comb, eat breakfast with a stack of pancakes, get dressed with a little dress. Super easy and probably took 5 minutes to make. She is so proud of having her own "to do list" and shows it to everyone.
ETA: We don't give rewards for staying on task. Of course, she is still so excited about the list that she stays on task and even ahead of schedule. She also likes that she can "read" what it says because there are pictures associated and it makes her feel a bit more independent.
I just made a template in Draw from clip art and print off a new one each week. It has room for 3 days of stickers. (K goes to preschool 3 days/wk) She puts a sticker (dollar spot) by each as she marks it off.
We actually started out making the whole day's schedule as a time learning/sequence/cutting/pasting activity. I found that breaking down morning - afternoon - and evenings on separate sheets works better if I want her to complete tasks as opposed to just knowing what comes next and when.
I can make you one for Maya if you want. It wouldn't take much time.
Ana, like Sophia, stays on task without a reward. Katen is a little less focused (shall we say?) so the sticker is a better motivator to keep her on track. You could try it both ways.
