DH applied for a job a few weeks ago that he's really interested in. Last week he checked and they had closed the posting. Today, it's open for applications again. That's a bad sign, right?

Maybe but maybe not. It could mean a few things. They may have initially filled the position (hence the closed posting) and it fell through. They may also have had a time limit on the posting and it automatically closed at said date. Either way, I would re-apply. Many companies do not re-consider applications on closed postings for legal/tracking reasons.

I'd reapply. Sometimes, changes to a req require taking it off-line and reposting.

Yep. There are really a variety of reasons why this could happen.

I'd tweak my resume to make sure it fits the posting and reapply.

I passed along the advice that he should submit his resume again but apparently he tried and the system won't let him. I didn't think he'd have a good chance of getting this job since it's not exactly in line with his current field of work and there are so many unemployed people in the area after the massive layoffs we've had recently. But, he was really hoping for it so I had my fingers crossed.
