Honey Farms?

On our apartment searching trip, I saw quite a few of these.  Didn't go in though.  Are they nicer than a 7-11?  I am sad to be leaving Wawa behind in PA.  Is there an equivalent in MA?

Also, what are the nice yet not offensively expensive food stores in the area?  Here I like Giant, but I don't think they are up there either.

With all of the shiz going on with us moving, these are the things I am worried about.  I may or may not be projecting anxiety onto weird things.

Re: Honey Farms?

  • Pup,

I don't know what a Wawa is, even though I go to PA a lot to visit DH's family.  I can't remember if I've been in a Honey Farms, but I think so, and they are OK.  We do have 7-11 up here, although a little harder to find.  I go there to fulfill my Slurpee cravings Smile

For grocery stores, Stop & Shop, Roches Bros, & Shaw's, are the more popular and usually nice stores.  I tend to bounce around and shop at all 3, I would guess that Stop & Shop is the pricier of the 3, but they are also the only one that sells Boar's Head deli meat (if that matters to you).  Prices will probably be high for you at first, coming from PA.  There is also a Wegman's opening up in Northborough (near Worcester).  It is the first one in MA, I've been to one in PA, and I'm excited to check the new one out.

Worcester also has a Super Wal-mart, and it's pretty nice, and they generally have the best prices.

Keep the questions coming, we have answers Smile

  • Is Giant like Giant Eagle?  If so, then Stop & Shop is the equivalent.  If you can find a Market Baske that's convenient, try it out.  I think they are the best store around.  Their produce and meat are passable, but the prices on dry goods can't be beat.

I've never heard of Honey Farms.

  • Honey Farms is the same as 7-11, Cumberland Farms, Tedeshi's etc...it is just a convenience store. Don't know what Wawa is, but I'm assuming it is also a convenience store. They are all pretty much the same.

There are a lot of grocery stores in MA. Market Basket is the cheapest, but they are always packed with people and I don't think the produce is as good. Shaw's and Stop and Shop are pretty similar. Some other not as common ones are Roch Brothers, Hannafords, Whole Foods. Oh, in the Worcester area there is also Price Chopper which is pretty equivalent to MB.

  • Do you have Sheetz in your part of PA?  I love Sheetz.  I wish we had them up here but I don't see it happening.
  • Giant is different from Giant Eagle.  It is hard to explain.  They have a nice variety of everything including some organic.  Maybe like a toned down Wegmans.

Wawa is a convience store that has a great deli.  I don't know what would be similar.

Never been to a Sheetz, so I am not sure what part of PA they are in.  I guess what I am looking for a similar food store to where I shop now.  Not the cheapest, but has deals.  Everything is fresh and has a great variety.

  • I think Sheetz is mostly in western PA but I've seen a few along I-80 further east.  They are a gas station/convenience store but they have a made to order food counter that I am obsessed with.  It's the best gas/bathroom/lunch break stop on a road trip.  Their only fault is they don't serve iced coffee.

Now I know exactly what you are talking about.  Next time I am in western PA, I will have to stop and try it out.

None of the convenient stores here have a deli (though they usually have some pre-packaged sandwiches, but I wouldn't recommend it). At least none that I've seen. You'll want the grocery stores. They will have a deli where you can get meat, but they won't make you a sandwich (some have pre-made stuff as well).

Just looked and there is one close by.  I love Trader Joe's.  This just made my day.

We just got one here and it is utterly ridiculous. You wait in line, on the highway, to get into the parking lot. I just go to Whole Foods because I don't have to wait in line on a damn highway to pull in.
