Also need some suggestions
No, nothing pregnancy related.
We are having a food day tomorrow at work. Summer themed food. Watermelon and root beer floats are already spoken for, and someone else is bringing a dip.
Any suggestions? Please bear in mind my baking/cooking skills fall somewhere between zero and none.
Re: Also need some suggestions
Summer makes me think BBQ. What about baked chicken wings, little smokies, mini burgers, pigs in a blanket? I saw a recipe somewhere, you make cornbread muffins and put a little smokie in the middle....corn dog muffins.
Good Luck!
I don't think you can ever go wrong with little smokies wrapped in crescent rolls!
An easy pasta salad is a great summer food (I do tri-color rotini, cubed ham, cheese, any veggies like green or red pepper, carrots, cukes, onion) then zesty italian salad dressing.
A veggie tray and dip would also work since everything is in season!
I would go with something that can be served cold or microwaved since you're taking this to work (presumably to be consumed around lunch time so sitting for hours). I too like pasta salad, but the other types of "salads" would also work - potato salad, cole slaw.
Another alternative is something that can go in a crock-pot. Pulled pork sandwhiches are great, but can be a lot of work. When I've made it, I just used the "root beer pulled pork" recipe from AllRecipes.
Another "summer" themed food is polynesian meatballs. Buy frozen meatballs and dump them in the crockpot with a drained can of pineapple chunks, 1 diced green bell pepper, 1 can condensed tomato soup, and 1/2 cup brown sugar. It should be ready by lunch. You can serve with little umbrella toothpicks.
