Anyone had any experience with a suddenly spiked electric bill? We've been consistently around $100 higher that normal for us, this has been going on for around 6-7 months.
We've had our water heater checked, it's fine and now I'm trying to get our electric company to come out to do a high bill investigation but it's seems to be more difficult to get them out here than I'd had hoped. Anyone go through something like this? TIA.
Re: High electric bill?
That's what they are trying to tell us, only it's been running high since Dec '10/January '11. Ours was almost triple yours, and I think we have about the same size house. OUCH!!
Triple that?! That's not right.. do you have old windows?
No kidding it's not right, it's sickening
.
We have a new house (less than 5 years old), supposedly energy efficient with new upgraded windows, efficient furnace, etc. It's crap!
Do you have a digital meter? I know they replaced ours with a digital a few years ago and now they just have to drive by or something to read it instead of reading it manually, which comes with issues, I'm sure. I would guess that thing's malfunctioning or something!
I'm SURE you have, but just in case: You change filters often and keep your outside A/C unit nice & clean, right?
Why are they stalling on coming out to investigate?
