As a gift giver, do you get offended if...
... someone exchanges a gift you bought?
My step-sister bought N one of those plush couches that fold out into a little bed. It's "Cars" themed. It's cute and he likes to sit on it but when we pass the Mickey Mouse one at the store he goes crazy! I thought about exchanging it for the MMC one but her and her daughters come over here often so it's not like she wouldn't notice.
Would you be offended if it were your gift?
Re: As a gift giver, do you get offended if...
No.
I have very human limitations when it comes to picking out gifts. If someone finds something they like better, why not?

16 read! my read shelf:
For something like that, and in that case, I would probably hold onto the Cars one, just because. Unless it's a situation of him hating the Cars one, I probably wouldn't bother returning it and risking the hurt feelings.
With that said, I returned/exchanged a RIDICULOUS amount of things that I received at my baby shower. Some were even things I registered for--it just turned out that we changed our minds about what we needed/didn't need, colors of things, etc.
You gotta do what you gotta do.

Oh, as for me, I don't really care if someone exchanges something I got for them. I can't think of a time when I would've been offended by that, you know? I want them to enjoy it; if it's something they won't use, I would rather have them exchange it for something they want than to have it go to waste.
As an example... My ILs are impossible to buy for. We bought them a programmable thermostat for Christmas one year (sounds wicked boring--just goes to show how difficult they are), because they were complaining how they get up in the morning in a freezing house, have to turn up the thermostat, wait for it to heat up, la la la. It was literally four years ago and they have still not installed the damn thing (it takes 10 minutes, tops). Drives me up the damn wall. If you weren't going to use it, you should've returned it. What a waste of our money!

I'm not offended at all. Do what works for you. It's the thought that counts.
I'm too practical to get offended at something like that.
