It is alright to have two interviews scheduled for two different positions in one department in a company?
This is the situation, I applied for multiples positions that my qualifications fit very well in a company and I got called for one that required a test, which I already took and I did great in and the manager of the section is working on scheduling an interview with other members of the department, which he said would be communicated with me on Thursday (tomorrow). However, I got another call for another position (testing not required) and an interview was scheduled for next week. I am confuse on how these situations would play out.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Re: Two Positions, One Department, One Company
Would you be interviewing with the same person?
Multiple people interview! Different section managers but I am scheduled to meet with the VP of the Department with this interview, not sure if he is going to be in the other section interview.
This. I actually had a similar situation in a previous job, and as long as HR is aware you're interviewing for both it sounds like a great opportunity to explore where you fit best- good luck!
I agree as well. The hiring manager(s) will know based on your qualifications and interviews which position would be a better fit for you. And if you have a preference after the interviews, you could always let them know. But yes, make sure that HR knows you are interviewing for both. Good luck!
It could end up working really well for you in terms of chosing the job that you prefer and negotiating salary.
I applied for one job at my company. The recruiter had me in mind for five. After going over the job descriptions, we narrowed it down to three that interested me.
I interviewed with all three managers and was called back for second interviews for two of them.
One was higher pay but I wasn't crazy about the work. The second was lower pay but something that I was interested in. When I was offered both, I requested the higher pay for the lower paying job, as well as an extra week of PTO. It took them a couple of days to get back to me but I ended up with the job that I wanted, at the higher salary with the extra PTO.
Good luck
