do you ever feel like its too late to go back to school? I feel like what I would want to go back for (nursing) would be so hard but then again maybe I could do it once the baby is a little older. Anyone else do this or in the process?

You can do it.

I started dental hygiene school at 23 and I'm glad I did. Even though I'm not working right now, I know I can most likely find a job part time when I want to. Do you have all the prereqs done for a program? You can do all those while the baby is young and then the actual nursing program when she is a little older. And if you go to a community college most will have a wait list to get in anyways. But it's never to late for school.

I had a couple ladies in their fifties in my program!

I've been thinking about this a lot the last couple of years. It's hard to justify going back to school when I still have student loans left from the last degree that I'm not suing any more.

its never too late! when i went to grad school the majority of the program was older men and woman changing careers! i often think about taking a couple of classes for occupational therapy since i ALWAYS see job postings for it.

I haven't really considered changing but I actually like my job. Engineering certainly isn't for everyone but I like how many different fields there are even within civil engineering. I guess if I didn't like what I do (land development) I would likely try another branch of civil engineering before totally changing directions.

It's true that it's never too late. I had my first child at 20 (3 yrs. into college) and I was feeling like it would be a million times harder to get a degree. She (my daughter) became my inspiration to finish. IT WAS HARDER, but it was more of a necessity since I had the responsibility for another person besides myself. You just had a baby! I think you are being too hard on yourself right now. It's overwhelming , but things will get better. Stick with people that motivate you to follow your dreams and it will all work out.

My cuzin has a 3 year old and just went back to school for nursing, she is in her mid 30s. She said it is an adjustment but never 2 late

i started grad school at 28, had Ava over the summer break, and Ava and I shared a 1st bday/30th bday/graduation party of sorts - lol! She got her own bday party, but people made more of a big deal about her than my bday or my graduation at mine - haha!

i was working FT during this period too.

anything is possible with drive, determination, understanding friends, and a helpful spouse and family. it took a village those two years...!

it did help my career.

I really looked into going back for nursing. The issue for me is that I hold the benefits for the family. I could not find a program that did not require days. I say go for it. Nursing if you like it is something that will always be around. Depending on where you work it's a fairly flexible position as far as hours go as well. I would go for it and I am 36.

I think you can do what you put your mind to.

This past year I worked full time, had grad school, a baby and was pregnant and I managed.

This year I will have 2 kids at home, be staying at home (for now through December) and taking 3 classes this semester starting Tuesday (eek! I skipped this week for obvious reasons). Did I mention my DH is NEVER home between the fire department and his business, so I rely on myself or mom. Though I am looking for a mother's helper.

It's totally doable but I would say it's easier as the kids become more independent. As for myself I have 14 years until I can retire and be a SAHM FT. so I am not going anywhere. As for school I was in college for 5 years got my degree and then spent 6 months in the police academy shortly after graduating so I am SO done with school and homework and studying!

I don't think it is ever too late. But, the fact that I will be paying off my student loans from my first career until I am retired means I won't be doing so myself!
