Hi ladies, I've never been a frequent nest poster, but I've been super MIA lately. Work has become insane and although I leave at 5, I've been working from home until 11:30...arg. Just a quick update:
DH and I had a wonderful anniversary weekend (despite Irene's attempts to ruin it!!). We were supposed to go to Cape May for the weekend. The trip was planned for months and I was devastated to have to cancel. I really needed a vacation. But, we were able to switch our reservations to the week between Christmas and New Years, which is a beautiful time of year to stay there. And because it's not the peak season, we switched to the top suite (cheaper than our small summer suite) and it has a fireplace and jacuzzi!!!! Can't wait for Christmas!! Neither of us has ever gone away around the holidays so this should be interesting. Please don't snow too much!!!
As some of you might remember, DH is a student so we've been trying to survive on just my income. We couldn't get a student loan for this fall semester that didn't have a ridiculous interest rate. He decided yesterday to take the semester off and work. His summer internship offered him a job (thank god!!) and he'll be making almost double what I make, so I'm praying that he'll decide to take the whole year off from school so we can start paying back all of our mountains of debt and start saving! He's a little sad about taking the time off, but I know he'll feel better when he gets his first paycheck.
Okay, I wrote a lot. Sorry about that! Oh, and I've been cheating on the nest with blogger...I've been really getting into some of your blogs lately. So I started one.
Re: MIA
It sounds like some things are changing in your life for the better right now. I'm sure your DH is bummed, but this job sounds like a good thing for you guys. He may pick up some valuable skills that will help him later on, too, once he goes back to school. Sorry you're working so much, too! That stinks!
And by the way, your blog background is super cute!
That's great that you got to change your reservation! I'm sure you guys will have a fabulous time!
I know what it's like to have an H in school and have money be tight. That's great that he got a job so easily - hopefully having the 2 incomes will help you guys get in a better spot.
Thanks! Yea, we know a bunch of people who couldn't get loans for this semester, so I keep telling him that we're so lucky he has an awesome fall-back plan!
aweilba - thanks for checking out my blog! I love yours. I read every new post
