OMG I cannot believe this text!

My giant pacifist baby, Datsyuk, is currently trying to kill a baby bunny in my backyard. DH is trying to stop him and get him into the house. Dixie flushed them out and Datsyuk is getting them. DH is texting me about it.

DH: Omg datsyuk is trying to kill a baby bunny.

Me: What?!?!?! Stop him!

DH: Imm trying dixie flushed it out and is looking for more and niether one is listning to me.

Me: get them in the house and lock them up!

I cannot believe this. Datsyuk would never hurt anyone or anything! God only knows what Dixie said to him to get him to attack a bunny. I expect it from her. She's killed birds in our yard before.

  • When I was still living at home, my cat brought a maimed baby bunny into our house in the middle of the night.  The noise it made was horrifying. :(

  • I'm glad the bunny is okay. I can't relate because I have retired racing greyhounds and they are trained to go after the rabbit on the track. They would go after a bunny in a heartbeat. Unfortunately for a lot of animals it seems with bunnies/birds etc their wild instincts are brought out. My neighbors dogs do the same thing, they've even gone after baby moles - ick!

  • I just have never seen Datsyuk attack anything. He's such a baby. I thought he'd be afraid of the damn thing, not working with Dixie to trap and kill it. I guess since he's part hound it is in his instincts, it just seems funny that he's only just now doing anything like that. He's 2 and a half already.

  • I cannot tell you how many baby bunnies my doggie has killed.   I was pretty distraught at first - right up until the neighbour started cheering her on.  Apparently they are pretty destructive to gardens.   I will still HATE seeing them get hurt, but I don't go into a screaming fit over it anymore.

  • I agree with the other ladies, it's totally nature!  My sweet little Gingercakes (a  beagle) saw a mouse in our backyard the other day, and kept howling to go out (she normally never "talks") and then wouldn't leave the bushes alone for hours.

  • Very natural. Pierce likes to go on lizard hunts everytime he is outside. The worst was we were suppose to watch my bffs cats, Pierce hate cats(we had never been up close to one just through the window). He tired to eat them out of their cage. I felt very bad because we couldn't watch them for her.

  • My dog only goes after little animals if it runs away from her. She loves cats but if it runs away from her she gets the wrong signal and thinks it's a game of hide & seek since she is playful.
