Talk to me about lasik. I asked my doc about it when I was there last time, and my eyes haven't changed in 6 years. I really want it but I'm worried about the halos and stuff that people talk about having. I mean, I get them with my glasses, but how bad is it really to see at night? What was the process like? And the healing time? TIA!
Re: Nora - re:lasik
Absolutely!
First off, it's great that your eyes haven't changed in 6 years - it would suck to get it done and then have to get it done again.
I am so, SO happy I did it! I don't know how bad your vision is, but I was -4.75 in each eye; essentially, I couldn't see much farther than a foot away from my face. The surgery itself took maybe 5 minutes - it's crazy quick! They gave me a valium or vicodin beforehand to help me relax. You're awake for the whole thing, but it's so quick and painless that it's no big deal. They numbed my eye with drops, held one open - zap, zap, zapped it and then moved on to the next.
The actual surgery makes your eyes really REALLY sensitive to light right away, so all I did was sleep for about 3 or 4 hours. When I woke up from my nap, I remember being able to see clearer already - like up to 3 or 4 feet away. The next morning, everything was totally clear. I did experience some dryness, which contributed to blurry-ness/halos, but it wasn't terrible. I've always had pretty dry eyes, though. I also needed to sleep with weird goggles they gave me for a bit (so you don't rub your eyes), but it was no biggie. The biggest problem I had was not wearing eye makeup for 2 weeks! Haha, but it was really not that big of a deal.
Let me know if you have any more questions!
