AW: DH

I'm sure I've hinted/complained on here before about the fact that DH works his butt off and gets paid squat. He is in an editor/writer, and ever since he was laid off from his pretty well-paying job 3 years ago he's been doing contract work. For the last year or so he's been working exclusively with one company that's been pretty much a full time job. It keeps him busy, but they pay him based on how many articles he writes and publishes and we always thought the rate was really low. But, there are NO jobs in his industry so he just sucked it up and dealt.

He found out a couple days ago that one of his colleagues who does the same thing is earning more the 2x per article than he has been. So today he reached out to his superior... and they immediately gave him an increase to meet his colleague's rate! Plus there's a standard daily thing he does for them which takes up a lot of time for little money, and they're looking into giving him a more fair rate for that as well.

I'm so friggin excited! I've been a little stressed about having to reconfigure the budget to account for our new car payment and, eventually, childcare expenses, so this is a huge relief. And I'm proud of him for raising the issue since he's usually pretty non-confrontational.
