Poll: Takeout menus?

We currently have a huge stack stuffed into a mail slot in our desk. We will eventually be getting a new desk and I might need to rethink where we store them.

How and where do you store all your takeout menus?

Re: Poll: Takeout menus?

  • I hate when takeout menus are left on our doorstep and when they are mailed to us. I don't keep them.  I take a look at the menu, and if it is something I might like to order, I keep it in mind and recycle the menu.  I do my ordering from menupages.com and seamless web.  Less clutter that way.

Ah, I wish menupages served Queens. Why won't businesses learn to appreciate that civilized people live outside of Manhattan and Brooklyn?

  • I do like the idea of going completely digital though. For just H and myself, we pretty much order from memory anyway.  But there are a few places that aren't online or where we like to be lazy and mediate on the menu what we want for an hour.
  • The few menus I have, I store them with my cookbooks in one of the kitchen cabinets.

  • Mine are 3 hole punched and put in a binder - by category. Italian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Spanish, Mexican..that kind of thing.

Yes, I was already told I have issues.

    LOL

Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker ...here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart I carry your heart(I carry it in my heart)

  • Someone bought us a small table top magazine holder with slots for remotes. I keep the remotes and pens and stuff in there along with the menus, next to the couch. Has to be next to the couch, we are always sitting there looking at each other going, I don't want to get up and cook, what are we going to eat? If we had to get up to get the menus, it would defeat the purpose.

I periodically weed out the old ones that we don't use. I also date the ones that we do and try to rotate them out for newer ones when the prices start to switch.

Ha! I know the feeling exactly.

I didn't get to talk to H too much about it (his new schedule is seriously cramping my style), but I think we are going to do some of what Rose suggested (using a website like Seamless) and scanning the ones that don't have Web-based ordering (at the suggestion of a D&R Nestie). I'm trying to get as much paper clutter organized and out this year.

  • Hmm, scanning the ones that don't have electronic ordering is a good idea.  If we didn't have electronic ordering, I'd probably do what Alisha does and organize by cuisine.  But it just annoys me to have all that paper sitting around.  I also hate calling to order.  I prefer click click click online and food magically appears :)  Those businesses with online ordering definitely get the majority of our business!
