My 1st Skype interview - advice please
I just got an email inviting me to have a phone or Skype interview. I've never done the latter and would welcome any advice or thoughts. I just downloaded the software, and I have a camera on the laptop, so I should be good to go. Haven't called the lady back yet, but I assume we could do it tomorrow. (The job is at a school which opens next week, so it should be a quick process.)
Obviously, I'd dress like it was in p;erson, and make sure the background is appropriate and not distracting.
TIA
Re: My 1st Skype interview - advice please
I've never had one, but it sounds like a good idea (vs. being only over the phone).
I'm with you re. dressing the same as if you were in person, making sure you are in a quiet room with an undistracting background, and I'd also do a few "test runs" with the Skype and camera/software since you just downloaded it.
Good luck!
I agree with testing your skype settings. Make sure that the sound and microphone is at appropriate levels. Have information handy, talking points, ressume, etc. You could even put them up on the screen to refer to them during the interview.
Tell us how that works out. I think its cool that your new company is utilizing Skype.
make sure you know her skype handle
look in the camera not the screen.
turn your cell phone off.
One thing no one mentioned but we have a lot of problems with at our office. Make sure you have a nice solid internet connection. Slow or crappy internet can distort the video or audio and thats the last thing that you want.
If it is possible, directly wire into your internet vs using wireless.
