My parents recently traded an old race car frame (they're big into stock car racing) for a travel trailer. Dad was rebuilding a bed frame for the camper, and I guess when he was grinding some of the welding off, a spark lit on some old timber that was stored in the garage and lit it on fire. Everything is a total loss. Thousands of dollars worth of car parts and tools are gone. The back of the trailer also caught fire, and their little shed that was holding sheet metal is also gone.
Dad said everyone is okay, and the fire didn't spread to the house (garage was detached from the house). They're going to call their insurance company and see if they can make a claim, since it was just an unfortunate accident.
Vibes that the insurance company agrees. They haven't had a single claim in 20 years of ownership.
Re: My dad accidentally burned down his garage...
holy crap that is terrifying. thank god everyone is OK.

Thanks ladies.
My dad gave me another update this morning. My aunt's car also went up. Thankfully it's been needing repaired for awhile, and hasn't had any gas in it's tank. The house next door's shutters are singed, but everything else is fine.
Apparently my niece was in the back yard playing with her toys when the fire started. Thank god she was far enough away from it and didn't get injured. My dad also lit his beard on fire (this is the second time in two years), so I think he's learned his lesson and is going to keep it short from now on.
