ideas for topiary...

Hi everyone!

We found an old topiary form when cleaning out a closet... it was in great shape!  I was originally going to look for boxwood silks to glue to it, but I want to explore my options.  I found some cute ideas on pinterest but wanted to ask here too.

What's not too seasonal or cutsie to attach?

Re: ideas for topiary...

  • My first thought was apples or gourds, but then I saw NOT seasonal...

and now all I can think of is fall stuff! Haha. I would probably go wander around the floral section and see what strikes my fancy. Do you know where you want to put it? The surrounding decor would probably influence what I'd pick.

It was 103F yesterday, but seeing as it was the 1st of September, I put out my fall decorations. There isn't much, but it's nice to see fall colors. My husband teased me relentlessly about it, too.

All my outdoor fall decorations are very papery: straw, leaves, etc. I'd worry about them bursting into flames if I got them out. But it's dark now when I get ready for work in the morning, so I guess that means it's fall.

  • Fall and Christmas are my two favorite things to decorate for!  I go the whole harvest route for fall... I can't get into Halloween decorations as much.  It's a nomadic topiary... as are most things in my house!  When I get bored and am trying to be budget friendly, I re-arrange what I have.  It keeps my husband on his toes!  Lol!

lol @ nomadic topiary. Could it be possible to fill it out in a relatively simple way that would leave room for temporary adornment? My mom has some fake trees in her basement that she decorates for various occasions. Sometimes they have garland and ornaments that go with a certain holiday, but other times she'll have fake birds sticking in them, or baby items when she hosts a shower, or hang family photos from the branches. It sounds kind of cheesy, but I swear it's classy how she does it.
