Thanks!

Re: Book Recs?

  • even though it was $20 for the kindle (which chaps my arse), i bought/loaded Fall of Giants (Ken Follet) when we went to the south pacific/hawaii in march. it's loooong so it'd probably be the only one you needed since you'll be doing a lot of activities. but since i was just laying around on beaches, i finished it and also: Sarah's Key, Chasing Fireflies, When Crickets Cry, and Where the River Ends (I was on a Charles Martin binge apparently!)
  • Room is great if you haven't read it yet.

  • I just read Sarah's Key too and liked it. The Help, if you haven't read it yet.

I've been reading more political thrillers lately and recommend anything by David Baldacci.

  • I did not care for Sarah's Keys.  I enjoyed the historical aspect of it (as much as you can enjoy any story about the Holocaust), but the modern-day woman's story line irritated me.  And the story about the younger brother killed me.

Some of my favorites from the past couple of years:

    Gone with the Wind

    Redeeming Love

    The Mark of Lion Trilogy

    The Hunger Games Trilogy

    The Help

    Outlander

    The 19th Wife

Escape by Carolyn Jessup (and the sequeal Triumph)

    Pride & Prejudice

    Cold Sassy Tree

    Memoirs of a Geisha

    The Hiding Place

    The Time Traveler's Wife

    Daisypath Vacation tickers

Love DB! the camel club books are good.....but they're starting to get a little too far fetched

  • The Help really is a great book.

Agree. I really like books with Sean and Michelle too but even those are getting a little out there.
