Traveling w/ baby questions

I'm flying later this month with Georgia.  I have a Continental Pres Club membership (or whatever it's called now w/ United).  Will Georgia be allowed in the lounge or do you strictly have to be 18/21?  I can't find anything online.

Also, when I booked my flight, I booked it with my name only since I'll be holding her.  Do I need to call them and tell them I'm traveling w/ an infant?  I wasn't sure if she'd be going when I booked it.

One more question....do I need to take any sort of documentation for her? I'm just flying within the US, so no passport, but do I need to bring anything else to prove she's actually my kid?

Re: Traveling w/ baby questions

  • We've always taken our kids in the President's Club without issue, but that was with the Platinum AmEx benefits, so I'm not sure how that differs from your membership.

Whenever I've flown with a lap child, I've always had to tell them so there was a note on my boarding pass indicating such.  I would give them a call to let them know.

I always brought a copy of their birth certificate when they were babies but only needed to produce it once.  Now that they're older, they just ask them to state their first and last names.  I would bring a copy just in case, but I doubt you'll need it.

  • Usually you have to include the infant info when you book (even a lap child).  Typically, the lap child has to have a boarding pass.  I would call and update now, so there won't be any problems when you get to the airport.  You won't need a photo ID for her, but you do need her birth certificate since she will be a lap child, and you have to prove that she is under the age of 2.  Some ppl don't check this, but they can make you buy a second seat if they check and you don't have it.
  • There are kids in the lounge all the time; I don't think that should be an issue.

  • DS2 will be on the lap for a flight to Mexico in December.  We have to pay a fee for that plus taxes on him!  It is Continental too.

Yes, they do charge for lap children for international flights.

  • You will need to tell them as she has to have a boarding pass.  I just took shot records in case I was asked. They told me that would suffice.
