I know Pam's happy hour cards have reached their end, but I enjoyed our QOTD posts, so I thought I'd try to continue them by taking daily questions from a website.

Today's question: If you were a teacher, which subject would you like to teach? If you ARE a teacher, what subject/grade do you currently teach, and would you want to change to something else?

High School Spanish. I absolutely loved my high school Spanish teachers, and since language is somewhat of al elective, they have some interest in the subject so they are (hopefully) more receptive to learning.

However, I would love to be a high school counsellor/social worker (not the Guidance counsellor). I actually started taking graduate level courses for this but stopped after a semester out of fear.

definitely an art teacher if only to honor the great art teachers i had in school, especially my senior year. that said, i know all about the crap teachers go through and there's no way i am cut out for it. i'd want teach my way (ie. whatever works best for that particular class or student) and i'm pretty sure that would get me fired pretty quickly.

I have a secret desire to go back to school to get a Phd in History but then I would probably be broke for the rest of my life.

I'd like to teach either high school drama or chemistry. I know those are completely different, but they were my favorite subjects in school.

I'd like there to be a mandatory Life Skills class that teaches budgeting and how to basically take care of yourself as an adult. (Required of all, not just those not on the advanced academic path.) If there was that kind of class, I'd teach that.

Huge nerd signing in - I'd love to teach Latin. I loved Latin, and when helping clean out my parents' attic recently, found my certificate for summa *** laude on the National Latin Exam. Geeked

H is an art teacher. He currently teaches at the elementary level, but he'd love to teach middle school art.

I am a resource teacher for the gifted. I love it. I do push-in lessons and pull-out classes in an elementary school.

I used to work in a middle school and if I had to change, I'd say I'd go back to middle school. I might take a content area on though, maybe history, as long as it was middle school. The other school related job I'd love to have is in an admissions office for a college. That sounds like fun to me.

I would love to teach HS chemistry, physics, or math (Calculus). My teachers in these subjects really inspired me to achieve more in life. I hope I could return the favor! Plus after being it the real world, I feel that I could do weekly lessons on where am I going to use this again?

My first choice would be to teach middle school geography b/c I think it's an important skill/class that isn't taught anymore and is very necessary given today's globalization. My seconed choice would be Tudor/British history at the college level.

English/writing, for sure, but I'm not sure what grade level. Probably elementary, because I think that's where my love for reading/writing really blossomed thanks to some great teachers.

History. Because, well, that's what my degrees are in. I actually got both degrees with teaching in mind, and while my ambitions have changed, I still apply to any history teacher position I find in the area. I guess you can say it's my first true love.

I would like to teach algebra and geometry at the high school level. I absolutely love math and found these subjects so interesting when I was in school.

Probably high school art teacher, or biology.

But, I think I'd much rather be a guidance counselor. I'd love doing all of the college admissions type stuff.

I teach grades 1-5, elem music. I would not want to change to something else. I'm certified K-12 instrumental music, so I could technically be a band director...but it's just not my thing. I don't foresee having a change of heart anytime soon. As for another career, my first year really stressed me out to the point that I sighed heavily driving past office buildings where they possibly work 9-5 and don't take work home...and I was also trying to figure out all the ways to be a stay at home wife. It didn't work out. :-p Happy now though! I love my job.

I used to substitute teach, and I loved working with kindergarten students. I've thought about going back to school for that, but it doesn't really seem to be in the cards.

I have a degree in Art History, but I would not want to teach that in an academic sense. I would like to be a museum educator in an art or culture museum, though. But, that would also require more school.
