my attempt at freezer paper stencil, fail
I had been wondering how to do this and when i saw the post the other day I figured I'd try it. I picked up all the supplies and did something simple. Go to find the iron. I can't find it anywhere. I called my mom because it was her's that she bought to use while she was visiting. She tells me, the last time she visited she brought it home with her because she needed a new one and she knew I never used it. Umm...her last visit was 2.5 years ago

I don't buy many clothes that need to be ironed. MH irons his own dress clothes most of the time.

DH's office is approximately 1100 miles away (he telecommutes;). I'm a SAHM. Church grounds would probably set our heathen @sses aflame. We really don't have much of anything to iron between the two of us! I did iron things when I worked and lived on my own- apparently, I at least thought about it. Since I owned an iron.
I'm not sure whether I owned an ironing BOARD, though, since we only have the one that came with DH. LOL!
You might be lol:) I and my hubby work at a place where jeans and t-shirts are the norm lol. I think I did iron my shirt when in the hotel room the morning of my interview for here and I managed to make it look worse, weird creases etc..
The only time I iron clothes is if we have a wedding to go to, and usually DH's shirt is still in the plastic from the dry cleaner and doesn't need it.
Otherwise I only use my machine for my attempts at sewing.
I think ironing is a generational thing. My grandmother loves to iron (and do laundry in general). I work in a nursing home and we had a conversation about ironing a while back. Older ladies talk about how they still iron and that it doesn't seem like a chore to them. I wish I enjoyed laundry, seeing as I have to do it anyway.
The one time I whined about the mountain of clothes I needed to iron, my husband reminded me that he wasn't working at McDonald's and that if I wanted to continue to enjoy our lifestyle, I should iron his clothes. ((this was right after we moved to IL and I hadn't found a job yet))
I used to iron DH's shirts a lot more often. Then he switched over to polo shirts, and I haven't really had to iron since. That works well for me though - it's one of my least favorite tasks, but if I "let" DH do it he does it wrong (missed areas, new creases, etc.).
Now the iron mostly exists for quilting purposes.
