S/O Babies... How many?

How many children would you want to have if money, space, fertility, etc was no issue?

How many do you realistically see yourself having?

Re: S/O Babies... How many?

  • Can age not be an issue either? I always wanted 3. Now that I recently turned 30 & still don't want them for another couple of years, I'll say 2. I love having a sibling so I just can't imagine only having one.

  • 3 or 4

Realistically though, we're done.  We want to be able to provide generously for our children, and we can do that with two.. not so much with any more.  Plus, DH doesn't want more.  I am not quite ready to make any permanent decisions yet.

  • In a perfect world DH & I would love to have twins, a boy and a girl and be done. I'd say no more than 2 but reserve the right to be one and done or have more than 2.

  • With the caveat that I've obviously never experienced motherhood and that could totally change my opinion, I think it'd be really great to have 4.

Realistically, we will probably stop at 2-3. DH just wants 2, but would be wiling to consider 3 when the time comes.

But even more realistically, I try not to get stuck on a number because there are so many factors we can't control. My mother had a very hard time having children and I could end up in that same boat one day.

  • 1 and 1. I only want one and while part of the reason for that is financial, there are other reasons too. So even if money, space, etc were no issue, I'd still say 1.

  • 3 or 4 depending on how the next one(s) go. My career is going to be a big part of how many more. Not for the financial aspect, but responsibility aspect. The position that I hope to be in isn't very maternity leave friendly.

  • I would like 2 but considering it took 2.5 years to get pregnant with O and I will be 34 in January I am not sure that will happen. I am happy with having 1 at this piont.

  • Both DH and I have always agreed that we will stop at 2.  After I had one, I wasn't even sure that I wanted another one, but that was just the postpartum anxiety talking.

  • If I ever get married again, one and done. Maybe adopt another.

  • 2. I don't think money, time, or space would change that.
  • I think 2 would be the max.  We have no family here (and very few friends) to help, which makes having 2 even a scary thought

  • Still 2 tops, and I'm happy with 1.
  • If money, age, fertitlity, etc. were no issue I would love to have 4-5. I come from a big family and adore all my siblings, it's so nice to know I will always have those people in my life that are connected to me even after my parents are gone.

Realistically, we will probably have 2, maybe 3.

  • This is absolutely it for us.  It was always going to be 0, 1, or 2.
  • We are subscribing to the "one and done" idea.  We don't plan to take any permanent action toward that until after the baby is born and we're settled.  We figure it's possible we'll change our minds once she's here.  And we're open to that.  But....I'm pretty sure we're both set on just one.

  • 2 regardless of money.
