Is moissanite a real diamond?

Someone over on MM told me this and to be honest...I am thinking no but I don't really know....

Re: Is moissanite a real diamond?

  • Wiki says no.  A moissanite is a moissanite and a diamond is a diamond.

  • Someone needs to tell this chick on MM that.  So annoying.  This must have been what her boyfriend told her when he proposed with a fake diamond.
  • Ummm...yea, no. I remember when my best friend was looking at rings with her then BF, they were told that they weren't real diamonds, but they cost just about the same price. From what I understood, they are just processed stones to appear to look like diamonds.
No....click me!!!! Cause I'm the wedding bio! Bloggin it up! Prince Charming stole my heart and we rode off on his white horse... They're actually A LOT cheaper, from what I've seen. I mean, they're not cheap, but comparatively they cost less.

I would consider getting moissanite stud earrings (I have lost one of all 3 pairs of diamond studs I've owned) because they're cheaper, but since CZ is even cheaper and I don't care about earrings being real, I tend to go that direction. It's the same reason I buy cheap sunglasses. I inevitably break, lose, or sit on them :)

  • If you want lots of sparkle and a high quality diamond is out of your range these are what you would want to look into.  ;)  I tried to get DH to agree to one of these and he told me that he would rather I have the real deal in a smaller size.  From looking at them they have more shine than a CZ and low quality diamonds but they are far from the real deal.  Someone told her a lie, poor girl!
