I miss my old JoAnn;s store

The one redeeming quality about our last house had nothing to do with the house...it was the JoAnn's store 10 minutes away. Best store ever. Never too busy, I could always find what I wanted, and if they didn't have it, they found it for me. They knew me by name, and one of the employees who stocked the shelves would set aside stuff she knew I would love. Does it really get better than that?

The stores here suck. Beyond suck. I hate them with a passion. All I wanted was white chenille. It wasn't on the floor at the first store. I asked if they had any in the back or behind the cutting counter waiting to be put away. "No." "Can you call and see if the other store has it?"  I asked.
"If you get me a number for the item I can."
"I can't give you a number for something not on the shelf."
"Well, then I can't call."
"You can't just call and ask if they have white chenille in stock? It's two steps away from the cutting counter there. They'll know exactly what it is."
"No, I can't do that."
"Since it's a basic item, can you look it up in your binder? They've done that before for me."
"No, I'm too busy."

Effers. I abandoned my cart right there and she was like "You're not buying this?" Uh, no. You're too busy to help me, I'm too disgusted to spend money.

The kicker of it all was that the second store didn't have it either. But they were willing to tell me what other stores did.

The irony of it all is that the next closest store is the one near our old house, well over an hour away. :(

Re: I miss my old JoAnn;s store

  • That's terrible!  Did you complain to someone/were all the salespeople as unhelpful?  What an unfortunate sales technique...

I recently had to switch Joann stores, too--due to a job switch, not a move, but I have yet to find myself a new Yarn Shop.  It's hard to replace such things.
