Kristen-Flu Shot

After our visit today, we have decided not to get a flu shot this year.  Our Dr said we can always change our mind, but that this year she doesn't think it is necessary. She said we could get it until March, so we have until then to decide.

Re: Kristen-Flu Shot

  • Awesome! I was leaning towards not getting it and feel better about that decision now. Thanks :) how was his checkup?

  • He did well!

He has protein allergy so he is on Similac Alimentum now.  Do we see a trend here?

Dr did give the go ahead to start giving him all vegetables plus small things over the next few months.  I think once he hits 7 months, we are going to try yogurts, hummus, cottage cheese and even some small very overcooked pastas.  She also told me to start letting him play with a sippy cup to get him started to transition.

It's crazy how fast these LO's are growing up!

  • Ya, it's a very unfortunate trend these days thanks, in large part, to Monsanto and the FDA feeding us crud and not telling us that they're giving us mutated foods that our bodies don't know how to deal with. Ugh!! Which protein(s) is he having issue with? Really sorry to hear that though!! Glad everything else went well! He's going to have fun trying all of that good new stuff :) BTW, if his protein sensitivity is dairy, coconut milk yogurt is awesome!!! I eat it everyday and actually like it better than regular.

I've been letting Margot play with a sippy for the past week. She loves throwing it around and chewing on it, but doesn't quite understand that there's a liquid in there for her. Lol I'm thinking about trying a straw one just to see.

And yes, these LO's are growing SO SO fast!! I still can't believe I'm feeding my baby solids. I was in a nursing room with a mom at the mall today and her baby was 8 weeks and soooo tiny! She made Margot look huge!!

  • Yes!  They believe it is dairy.  She believes he will grow out of it by a year.  In fact, she has suggested I start introducing small dairy products over the next few months to see and track his progression.  I'll have to try the coconut milk yogurt!

We actually tried a straw sippy up this past weekend.  I put just a little water in the bottom to see what he would do and he was able to get it.  We got the Playtex cups with the pop out straws.  He really loves it!

  • Ya, I need to get a straw sippy.

Definitley try the coconut milk yogurt. So yum! The brand is called So Delicious. They also make coconut milk ice cream that is to die for good. I eat some every night after dinner :) I have lots of great substitutions for almost everything Margot is sensitive to. Earth Balance makes a great dairy/soy free butter and we really like Pacific hemp milk. Rice and almond milk are good too. And just as an FYI, 60% of dairy sensitive babies are also sensitive to soy. It gets really fun when that happens! Lol

my nephew is almost 2 and outgrew all of his food allergies, except dairy. It can take up to age 3. Although, after what I've been reading, our family is never having cows milk dairy again. We're going to do goats milk as needed.

I'm glad they kinda got it figured out though. He was diagnosed with reflux, right? Hopefully, cutting dairy will help him with that. Margot, my nephew, and my good friends DD had reflux that resolved itself when we cut dairy, soy, etc.
