Help solve my indecision: painting a desk
I don't know why I can't make a decision to save my life these days. I'm painting this desk white for the craft corner of my dressing room. The lower right hand drawer is missing a handle. Should I fill in the holes and paint over it, or should I replace all the handles? If I replace them all, with what?
There's also few areas where the veneer has chipped off. Should I leave it as is for some character, or fill it with wood putty (this is just the first coat of primer). I'm kinda leaning toward leaving as is, but do you think it looks wrong?
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

Re: Help solve my indecision: painting a desk
I'd rip off all the handles and put new ones on (either fill in the holes or find ones that fit the holes). I'd probably also patch up those veneer spots too.
Are you going to brush it or spray it?

I'd leave those chipped veneer spots if you want to give the desk some character or if you're aiming for a romantic/cottage/rustic look. But I'd patch them up if you want a clean modern look.

Desk will be white. Walls are medium gray, with lots of black and white wall art, pink accents like curtains, probably black and white rug atop mint green carpet.
I would do black knobs then like this but turned horizontal:

I agree to put new handles on it. I think glass/clear handles would look good.
If most of the drawers had that little bit of damage then I could see it adding character, but if just one or two of them do, then I'd fill them in.
And of course, you need to show us this room when you are finished!
ETA I like those black handles Hannah posted.
ps - paint it pink.
pps - primer does not equal paint. For the love of all that's good and holy, use two coats of primer and then two coats of paint and seal it if you're feeling thorough. (our landlord painted some posts with 3 coats of primer - because that was less than a gallon - and now they've got so much *** stuck to them. Tights aren't pants and primer isn't paint. Oy.)
Oh yes, I'm definitely doing this one the right way. I've thought about painting it pink... but I'm not sure I could make it look adult and not little girl pink, particularly with a mint green carpet under it.
Gotcha. post after pictures :-)
