When does 'frugal' become 'cheap' to you?
This is a gripe I have with DH. He disagrees. He always says how he's cheap with himself and generous with others - which is often very true.
However, he does things like bring home a Snapfish printed email for 50% Holiday Cards and wants to take pictures of J this weekend and do cards before the sale is over. I don't. I just am not in the mood yet. It's Summer for the love of God. He thinks I just 'like to spend money'. I think he's being cheap. I never pay full price for cards even at the Holidays. Not only that but she'll be so much older and different looking come Nov/Dec. Blah.
This is just one example of many. How about you - when does something cross the line to cheap for you?
Re: When does 'frugal' become 'cheap' to you?
Hmm...to me, frugal becomes cheap when its an imposition to others. If that makes sense.
For example, I had a friend in college who wouldn't turn the heat on in his apartment because it was so expensive. Instead of just setting it low where it would be tolerable, he wouldn't turn it on unless it was freezing or below. He would just heat with candles. So, there was a possibility of his pipes freezing, AND it was super unpleasant to hang out there.
On the other hand, had he had gatherings there and just said "Bring your own beer and dinner!" That's frugal (and understandable) without being just plain cheap.
