Downtown jury duty: discuss

I've never had jury duty in Houston before.  Please tell me what I need to know.

Re: Downtown jury duty: discuss

  • The parking garage there sucks.
    nothing
  • wear comfy shoes because there's a possibility you'll have to walk a few blocks on teh concrete to get from jury assembly to the courthouse.  take a book/kindle/something to do because there's lots of waiting.

you can take the park & ride bus there and they'll give you a bus pass.

  • I've never had jury duty....but I do work downtown and cannot tell you how many times people have stopped me asking where a certain street was cause they had jury duty. I just got asked Friday....poor guy was about 8 blocks from the street he needed. So, if you are not familar with downtown please make sure you have a reliable GPS and/or a map of downtown streets in your hand.
  • if you take a bus, let the driver know when you board that you're there for jury duty-- they'll tell you where your stop is.
  • I've never had it, but DH seems to get called at least once a year. He almost always gets picked or at least makes it to the last round of selection so it's at least an all day affair or longer. He takes the bus because otherwise you're losing money to go and park.
