At the Club today :)

I'm working out of the Clubhouse today. High speed internet all day with no work related obligations so far except for the guest that stopped by around 10 this morning. SO nice. We can only get dial up at home (Living out in the sticks has its down sides).

Anyway, just thought that I would ask if anyone has been to Deep Creek Lake. If so, where did you stay and how was your experience? If not, have you heard of it before and do you know someone who has been there? What was their experience like?

Re: At the Club today :)

  • H and I used to go up there about once a year when I worked at a place that had a vacation rental available to me. It was nice. We'd go hiking, and there was a mini golf course, and a movie theatre, and some restaurants. Mainly, we'd just chill out at the cabin, reading and cooking and drinking wine. It was a glorious week free of technology :) We haven't been in a few years though, as I switched jobs.

  • I stayed in Harrington Manor as a teenager and it was great. It's been so long, though, that I can't recall how ideally located we were or anything of the sort.

One branch of our family goes every summer and stays at the Suites at Silver Tree and I'm guessing they're happy with it since they always stay there. My Mom joined them last year and certainly enjoyed herself. I seem to recall it being fairly pricey, but it's right on the lake, which is definitely a great location.

  • I have only ever been to Deep Creek in the winter for skiing.  All three times we stayed at different places.  We rented houses with other people/couples for the week.  A couple of the houses were pretty amazing and splitting it with other people helped with cost.  We had to drive to the slopes and one year it was pretty dicey because there was a bad snowstorm, but the place had a jacuzzi and a game room so we were good to go!
  • We rented a cabin with this place:

It was dog friendly and very close to Swallow Falls Park. We hiked through Swallow Falls Park, went to Herrington Manor Park and mostly just relaxed in our cabin. We only ate at one restaurant since we had our dog with us. It was a bbq place called Archie's I think and it was really good. If we didn't have our dog with us we probably would've gone to some of the attractions at Wisp.
