North Bay Nesties--traffic on 580 West/101 North tonight?
I know traffic is going to be ugly pretty much everywhere due to the holiday weekend...
DH and I are heading up to Mendocino County after work. We are torn between eating dinner in Oakland (where we work) and THEN driving over the 580 bridge/up 101, OR leaving work, driving over the 580 bridge, eating dinner in the San Rafael area, and THEN heading up 101N.
Any suggestions?

Yeah, if you're leaving "after work" - which probably means around 5 - you're gonna hit lots of traffic everywhere. You'll see it on 80 from Oakland to 580, and then on 101 going north. If you want to avoid traffic, you would have had to leave much earlier in the day, or much later than "after work."

Thank you all for the advice! We ended up eating in Oakland and leaving at 6...we made it up to Sea Ranch by 9 so not too bad at all for Labor Day weekend.
ps: LOVE Sol Food--that was totally going to be our dinner choice had we eaten in Marin!
