  • And how is operation no night feedings and bottle weaning?
  • We decided to skip church yesterday.  The church that we like is going to three services next Sunday.  The third service is at 12:45 which is not close to nap time, so we are going to try that.

Hoping to not jinx ourselves, but the night weaning is going well. He hasn't had a night bottle since Wednesday night, and last night he slept for 8 hours!!!!  I hope this continues.  We have still given a bottle before his second nap and bedtime, but we are making progress. : )  He is doing really well with a cup for the rest of the time.

  • That's great! Nate nightweaned pretty early (for the most part). But giving up the bottle was so hard!

  • Good news! Hope Will keeps sleeping 8 hours for you :0) and that the 12:45 service works out.

Hmm, so I'm hearing we should start practicing with the sippy cup now? At what age would you mommas recommend?

I think we started at 6 months, with a 1 oz apple juice and 1 oz water mix, for constipation per our pedi. I didn't want to start juice in bottles, so we used cups. Maybe this made things harder for us because Nate had no problem drinking juice or water from a cup, but wouldn't take milk that way. For him, milk was supposed to be in a bottle. I started trying to give him milk in cups at about 12 months, but Rodgers would always cave and let him have a bottle, especially if all of our sippy cups were dirty or in the dishwasher, so he didn't have any reason to drink milk from a cup if he knew he could get the bottle like he wanted. At about 14 or 15 months, I just packed up all the bottles. Nate refused drink milk for about 2 weeks, even though we were offering it several times a day, because there were no more bottles. He ate enough yogurt and cheese to get his daily dairy requirement, so I didn't worry about it. We couldn't have done that when milk was his main food, though.
