What do you store in your front hall closet?

I'm getting ready to install a new closet system. In order to maximize space and utilization I'm making a list of everything that's going to be stored in there. So what do you keep in yours?

Re: What do you store in your front hall closet?

  • Thanks for the reminder that mine needs to be cleaned out! Usually store random things that I need right away instead of digging around for them in other storage areas...flashlights, batteries, candles, smaller holiday decorations.

  • Our front closet is pretty small so most of it is taken up with coats, hats, gloves, boots, umbrellas, etc. I keep travel related items (travel pillows, blankets, ticket organizer, and similar) in a box on the top shelf. I also keep our emergency flashlights in the closet.

  • We have two.  One is for coats and the other has built-in shelves that we use for photo albums and blankets.

  • Ours has built in shelves and we have all our safety itels in there along with cleaning supplies and medicines. Since we are foster parents all meds and cleaning supplies must be locked up so we changed out the handle to a key lock.

  • Husband is an avid hunter with multiple guns so I bought a gun case and put it inside the closet to lock his guns up.  He stores anything to do with hunting in this closet b/c I got tired of tripping over bullets and guns and bows and arrows when I first moved in.

  • We don't even have one in our house D:

In our apartment we kept our winter coats in that closet as well as our board games since the closet was closest to the living room where we would use them.

  • Ours is big. One side is regular depth and we store coats, hats, boots, and such there. The other side is deep and extends under the stairs. We store holiday decorations in the under the stairs part, some sporting gear, random decor I haven't hound a home for yet, and the vacuum and carpet cleaner.
  • We only have 1 closet on our main floor so this is probably going to sound like a huge mishmash of randomness.

There is one shelf and one rod.  On the shelf I have a small bin w/light bulbs, a bin w/hats and scarfs and gloves, my turkey roaster pan, and picnicware.

We have coats hanging on the rod.

On the floor under the coats are 4 folding chairs, 2 extra racks from my oven, a chafing dish/buffet server (its big so it's in the box standing up on it's side on the floor), carpet steamer, and dyson vacuum w/attachments.

In front of that is the rolling bin of dog food.

Hanging on the walls are brooms/mops on 3M hooks, and a Simple Human plastic bag holder thingie.
