  • He is SO adorable and looks so soft! I'm excited to hear more about him and see more pictures once he gets home with you and Kevin!

How old will he be when you get him? Where are you getting him? I'm so happy for you two, having a dog is awesome (although can be stressful with potty training).

My main suggestion is to crate train him. It should help with potty training, and will be his safe place. Tera LOVED her crate, and we just recently removed it (she now sleeps in our room). I don't think you necessarily need to go to training classes, as long as you set aside time at home for you two to do it. Use positive reinforcement methods and be consistent.

Can't wait to hear more as he gets a name, gets home, etc.!

P.S. Get a furminator asap (it will REALLY be nice once he's a little older and sheds a lot). They are almost always cheaper on amazon than in stores.

    Thanks everyone!

Em- We will be getting him around the 8 week mark. We don't have a name for him yet Sad But we are currently brainstorming names. We are planning on crate training but I need to do some reading on it. I am also taking a 5-6 day stretch off of work when we get him to help with the transition to our house.

Thanks for the tip on the furminator. Since he is part poodle I'm hoping he will not shed quite as much as a full Golden would. Eeek! We are just too excited!

  • What a cutie!  I think it's a great idea you took a couple days off.  I was so happy I was on vacation when we brought Winston home.

Best advice right now, lots of patience.  Potty training can be such a pain and frustrating.  We still have him spend the majority of his time in the kitchen.  I recommend getting a gallon of urine off, or something similar to help with the accidents.

    Enjoy!

  • I have no tips either, but he's so cute!
  • Soooo cute!! Congrats Smile I second the Furminator...best dog grooming tool ever! Also second the idea of something to help clean up during house training accidents. We always keep a gallon of Nature's Miracle around...it'll get rid of the odor and clean up any stain you can imagine. Good luck with the little guy!
  • So effing cute!!!!
