:: UPDATE is at the bottom of the thread ::
We could use some T&Ps!
My parents, grandparents, and aunt/uncle were evacuated today for (another) fire - this is the second time for all of them this summer. My aunt thinks that their house is gone, but they won't know for sure until they are let back in to the area. The neighborhood where my parents and grandparents live was ok when they evacuated, but the neighborhoods east and west of them, as well as the state park to the north were all burning. Firefighters are having a hard time getting the fire under control because of all of the wind and dryness. They're saying that 14,000 acres and 300 homes have burned so far.
Besides that one, there are/have been 6 other separate wildfires in the Austin area today. There were also several wildfires in my part of central TX today, including one just a few miles down the highway from us. That one is contained: 15 acres of farmland burned, nothing else.
Re: family members evacuated due to fire :: UPDATE (bad news)
Praying for your family. I hope that everyone is safe.
No updates so far this morning. But, this picture was taken yesterday. My grandparents' and parents' house is 2 miles down this highway, towards the smoke.

Thanks everyone. There was a press conference late this morning. They said that optimistically some people might be able to return to their homes tonight, but more realistically it will be the end of the week. The fire is covering an area of 16 miles x 6 miles on the east side of their town, mostly affecting farmland/forest, but there are communities in there, and it is still 0% contained. This morning, a second, separate fire popped up on the west side of town.
My parents live near Houston during the week, so they will be going back down there today. They had just been waiting to see what will happen at the weekend home, and whether or not they have anything to pack to take home with them for the week. They stayed at my sister's house last night. She lives near the affected area, but upwind, so there's no imminent danger at her house and no evacuations or evacuation warnings around her.
My aunt and uncle are staying at a shelter at a church, and my grandparents at a friend's restaurant.
Another update:
My dad just called me. He said that they saw a picture of their and my grandparents' street, taken from the highway. There should be a big sign, a grove of trees, and then houses. Theirs is the second house. In the picture, you can see straight from the highway all the way to the third house. It's not a very clear picture, and taken from a distance, so there could be something of their house still standing, but they are anticipating that when they get back there, there will be nothing left.

I'm just now seeing this. Do you have an update? I'm so sorry that all this is going on, hopefully the house was saved.

Evacuations have expanded as of this morning. So far there are no reports of loss of lives - I haven't even heard of anyone being injured. They keep talking about how they're making the reentry plans, but it's not going to happen any time soon. The wind has died down today, though, so at least the fire isn't being spread by the wind anymore. Estimates are now 30,000 acres burned and close to 600 homes lost.
My grandparents and aunt and uncle are staying at friends' houses for now. My parents didn't tell me for sure, but I assume they are back in Houston now.
