Coupons

Ladies DH and I are looking to get a paper for the coupons. we get our news from the internet so we dont really read the paper but would like to start being a coupon clipping family. What paper have you found to have the best/most relevant/more selection of coupons? I was thinking Washington Post or Baltimore Sun or The Capital (we live near annapolis)

TIA

Re: Coupons

  • I always get the Sunday Sun for the coupons....but I don't subscribe, I just make picking it up part of my Saturday morning routine!
  • At different times we have ad the Post and the Sun.  Like you, we really just want the ads and the coupons so we go with whoever we can get the best price on the paper from.

  • Also, I'm pretty sure if you subscribe to the Sun the only option you have in terms of weekend subscriptions is the get it on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  DH and I did this a couple years ago, mainly for the Sunday paper and realized that the Friday and Saturday issues were basically a waste.  We each only read certain parts and it wasn't worth the money.

And as a side note...I would be very hesitant to subscribe to The Sun again after the terrible customer service I received while subscribing.  Buying it when I want it is as far as I'll go.

  • Thanks Ladies!! keep the tips coming

  • You can clip coupons online too....Coupon Mom and Red Plum are two sites that come to mind to do so.

Ditto this, we found it was easier and less wasteful to just print the coupons off the Internet. They have the same coupons that are in the paper plus more that are just online.

We get all of these papers & they all have the same coupon /weekend ad inserts. The Sun & Post both put out bigger papers w/ the coupons on Saturday, but the Capital you have to wait until Sunday for the same inserts. We also get the Wall Street Journal and no coupons w/ it. I like the Washington post weekend magazine. I clip coupons for a few specific items, I pull the inserts and free cycle the rest (usually saving 2-3 weeks worth.) There are other freecyclers on my list that do the same, so that might be something to consider.

  • We subscribe to the Sun. They had a promotion a while back for a penny for the year. It includes Wed., Sat. & Sun. It's weird because all of the coupons come in Saturday's paper, but Sunday's paper advertises all the savings. I subscribed to the Post last year and I had several occasions when my paper wasn't delivered. I got comped but it was still annoying to have to call.

  • Our Dollar Tree sells the Sunday paper with the coupons...they have a shipment for Saturday and another for Sunday.  Cheaper than paying retail for it.

We did that deal too - best penny I ever spent!

We actually get all 3 papers and they have the same coupons. I would go with whichever is cheapest.
