I'm throwing a 60th birthday brunch for my mom in November. I think it will be about 10 women. People will serve themselves buffet style and then we'll sit at the dining table. The invitation will say it starts at 10am and so we'll probably start eating around 10:30am. Here's my menu so far:
1. Two quiches using this recipe. One will be made vegetarian.
2. Baked french toast. It's basically french bread soaked in eggs and topped with a butter and brown sugar mixture.
3. Fresh fruit salad
Drinks: Coffee, orange juice
What else do I need to round out the menu? I was thinking of making this cranberry and walnut salad but does that work for brunch? Any other thoughts of items I should have? Does anyone know of any good non-alcoholic brunch punches that I could make in a punch bowl? Let me know what you think.
Re: Need help with a brunch menu
I think that making a cranberry walnut salad (I often add sliced pears to a similar salad too for extra crunch) is a good addition. that way you've got a balance between sweet things (fruit, french toast) & savory (quiche). If ppl are feeling more lunch-y than breakfast-y that would make a complete meal.
When I was KU, I'd make non-alcoholic "mimosas" a lot. basically, a spalsh of juice (orange is obviously good, but peach or pear or whatever is also delicious) topped off with a lot of seltzer water. We actually still drink a LOT of seltzer
I can't help much with non-alcoholic drinks. I'm a wino.
Thank you ladies for the responses. I think I'll add the salad to the menu and also do the mini bagels with cream cheese and salmon. I like the bagel idea for rounding out the menu and also because it doesn't require any cooking. I also like the fruit juice and seltzer idea. I may also look up some drink recipes on AllRecipes because I'm sure they have some there.
