Home Service Plus

Has anyone used HSP for a furnace tune-up, or any furnace/AC maintenance work?  Just curious what their service is like or whether we should find another company.  Thanks!

Re: Home Service Plus

  • Yes, we have used them and they are fantastic. Would highly recommend them.
  • Yes. You mean the Minnegasco plan right? I am a bit biased because my dad works for them, but the first thing he did when we bought our house was get us signed up and it has more than paid for itself. We had a guy out one time working on our furnace for half a day which would have been a fortune and was all covered. I think it's totally worth it.

  • We have it and had used it a couple times and haven't had any problems with the work that was done.  Like most insurance type stuff, when you need it it's super handy, but otherwise it's all just piece of mind.
  • We got it after our washer stopped pumping and I fixed it myself but it took a while to do.  I swore I'd never take that thing apart again so we got HSP.  We had to call them out for an unrelated washer fix about a month ago and they took a while to get to us but once they were there, it was all covered under our plan.  What they would have charged us to fix the washer basically broke us even on our expenses to be in the plan to begin with so I consider that a good expenditure.  I had a string of issues with my High Efficiency furnace a few years back and each trip out for a service tech was at least 200 bucks.  Those would all be covered under their plans.  It is worth it for the peace of mind for us!  I don't know if they're still doing it but they were running a promo where you could basically get ALL your home appliances covered (the higher rate plan) for the basic rate price.
