Why does it always happen when they're gone?!

So I got a letter in the mail saying DH's license is suspended for two tickets he didn't pay in 2006. I had to go through all of his "files" which really was just 6 years worth of paperwork in a box to try to find the receipt for it. I managed to find a receipt for all of his other citations, but not for this one. He's adamant that he paid it, so I'm trying to look in the basement through all of his things. School started last week, and I still have a full time job doing research. I'm trying to buy stuff for our new house, pack everything up, get everything settled with the mortgage company, the movers, the inspectors, the surveyors, and now this! And I just got a new puppy, lol. When it rains it pours...

I'm sorry! He definitely owes you some flowers or something! Good luck finding it!

I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.
  • Why not just contact the bank for statements from 2006 and see if it went through his account?

Then if you find it did, you can get a copy of the cancelled check too.

  • It went through a credit card that he doesn't have any more. When we got married we got a joint credit card and use that.

They should still have his history on file.  Usually records are kept for seven years.  Give the company a call and see what they can do for you.  Worst case you don't get what you need.

I feel the same way.  It does seem like when it rains it pours.  I am right there with you right about now!
