My niece is going to be trouble when she's older

My parents have a cottage, and my bro and his family decided to go up for the day. They've never been and my extended family has rarely, if ever, seen his kids.

So my aunt and my 14 year old cousin popped in to visit, and while talking my bro quickly scooped up his almost 3 year old and took her to another room.

Later my mom asked why he did that, and my brother was like, did you not here what she said.

Apparently my niece turned to my brother and said, regarding my aunt and cousin, "I don't like these ugly people".

No one heard, and my brother thought he would take her away before she repeated herself.

They aren't ugly people, and I can promise that my brother and his fiancee do not talk about people this way, so who knows where she got this from.

I about died laughing. She's so sassy (read: rude). She's going to be such a handful growing up.

  • meh.  At 3 kids will say anything to get attention.  I wouldn't worry about her yet.

I agree, well I have to after James told SIL and some of her friends that 'Daddy is wearing Mommy's underwear'. Just for the record DH never has and never will wear my underwear, we do not know where he got that from.

Meg, that is fuuny. You got to love how their little brains work and how awkward a situation they can get you into.

  • At the age of 4, my nephew was in a restaurant and a morbidly obese woman walked in and sat down.  He immediately started throwing the world's biggest temper tantrum that he wanted to leave because he didn't like her, she's so fat.  I'm a little worried about him based on the fact that: 1) my sister and BIL weren't too mortified to repeat the story (I would have been); and 2) my BIL used the story as a reason he's worried his son won't learn to accept people that "aren't as cute as he is".  Yeah.

Hopefully it really is just a phase for your niece (and my nephew)!

  • I'm sure it's just a phase.  Kids say stupid things--apparently when I was 3, I asked a man in an elevator why he was black.

    lol.  That's hilarious!

  • Ooops! It's funny the way kids' brains work.

I apparently described our bald neighbour as "all naked in his hair" when I was about 4...

  • LOL, kinda funny, but I think all kids come up with random things to say at times!
