FHA inspection
What do they look for? I'm concerned because the house we're trying to buy has lots of chipped lead paint. We're planning on having it removed/incapsulated before we move in, but I'm afraid we won't get the financing first.

Re: FHA inspection
I was expecting it to be a problem on the house we just sold, but apparently they didn't check. As the seller I did try to paint over some of the chipped areas, but I didn't get it all. The house was built in 1940 though so we "know" there is lead, but because it's never been tested, we don't know it's there. Thankfully the buyers waived their right to test just as we did when we bought it.
If the appraiser doesn't report it/loan require it you may need to renegotiate the contract and have the sellers fix it.
Thankfully the only fix the FHA required on the house we sold was install a carbon monoxide detector. Thank you big brother government for watching out for my buyers.
