Medela PISA v. Medela Freestyle

I saw Eagles' post in Amer's hospital bag thread about the Medela PISA being on sale at Target.  We've held off on buying a pump, hoping for such a sale.  Now that it's on sale, I'm hesitating on pulling the trigger because it's not hands free.  Can anyone offer any sort of comparison or opinion on whether you think one is better than the other (other than the massive price difference)?  I'm pretty set on a Medela pump either way.  It's just a matter of which.

Re: Medela PISA v. Medela Freestyle

  • I am curious to see the advice too.

Just a side note: The Medela Freestyle is regularly priced $299 (vs $379 at BRU) at Burlington Coat Factory - Baby Depot.  I can not remember the PISA price but it was cheaper than any sales I have seen too.  If you are not near a Burlington, they are available on their website.

  • I love my freestyle. After gift cards I paid 60 so it wasn't a huge out of pocket hit. I'm glad I got it, it's cordless which is way more important to me then hands free. I probably only needed a swing since I tend to only pump one at a time but so glad I don't have to be Hooked to a wall.
  • Ive had friends who used PISA for their first baby and Freestyle for baby #2 and they LOVED the freestyle. all of them said it was worth the price and still had comparable suction power etc. However "all of them" is like 2-3 people so dont make your decision based on that alone! Also consider that if you get the PISA you will likely get some kind of hands free bra thing, right? So add that cost in when youre comparing the two prices (about $40 I believe).

  • Im going to second Lachute. The only thing is I did use the double pump. The battery charge lasts a looong time too. Def. worth the extra money.
  • my PISA has a battery pack that I can use if needed (in the car for example).  i have yet to think of an instance where i would be somewhere, pumping, that hands-free would be needed and if it was i would probably get the bra.  i have had no issues with it at all.  i was concerned because i had rented the hospital grade medela symphony (in case we had issues i figured $75 for a month wasn't a bad "test run") but the PISA was similar suction and actually easier for toting around.

    good luck!

  • I ran out and bought the PISA on Sunday after seeing the circular on Saturday. I have no idea if I'll even be able to nurse but I do love a sale. Plus target takes anything back within 90 days so I wanted to get one before they ran out.
