Traveling with Baby question

This Saturday I am flying with my 4 mo out of Eppley.  I plan on wearing him in my Ergo at the airport; we're not taking an infant seat or stroller since we'll have them at our destination.  I asked on my month board on TB, and got mixed reviews about whether or not I'd be able to wear him through security.  It seems like at bigger airports (like Sea-Tac) they had to take the baby out and put the carrier through the x-ray, but smaller ones they could wear them through.  Anyone done this from Eppley?  Just trying to be as prepared as possible and have some idea of what is going to happen; DH isn't flying with us, so I want to make sure I have all the bases covered! Thanks!

Re: Traveling with Baby question

  • I would error on the side of have the thing off ready to send it through the scan.  You are flying out the day befoe the 10th anniversary of 9/11.  I"m sure everyone will be on pins and needles and extra cautious regarding security.
  • When I've flown with a carrier, I've had to take the baby out of the carrier (even on the plane during take off and landing).  Just like they make you put an entire stroller onto the conveyor belt, the same thing will likely apply here.  It's a pain, but all in the name of safety!  :)
  • They will have you take the baby out but you can still wear the carrier.  At least this was my experience you know every airport and every security employee is different.
