Rec your favorite durable paint

I'm going to take advantage of the beautiful weather this week and drag my toybox out to the patio and get it painted. What's your favorite paint that would hold up to my kid's abuse? If you remember my post from a couple of weeks ago, I'm going to go with a yellow color. My mom pointed out that if he dings it up, it won't show as much since it'll be a yellow underneath.

VOC level is not necessarily an issue, since I'll be taking it outside, and I'm going to try not to be too picky on the price, since I only need a quart.

Re: Rec your favorite durable paint

  • We have gotten all of our paint at Sherwin Williams and have been so pleased.  I did get a Gliddon quart to try and was not happy, I thought it was thinner and didn't cover as well.

  • I've been refinishing several pieces of our furniture and have been happiest with the all purpose (all surface) spray paint by Rustoleum. I bonds to the wood better. Especially if it's previously been painted. My kids are rough on things and the coffee table is holding up so far.  ;)

Rustoleum is the $hit! I love that stuff it covers like a dream, especially if you're repainting something, like a toy box, it'll be nice to spray it on and not have to worry about streaks. If you don't care about streaks/paint makrs, I'd got with Dutch Boy from Menards. That's the only kind of paint I'd buy. I am NOT a baer(sp?) fan. It doesn't hold up as well.
