Re: Labor Day Weekend
Our's was good!
We went to Peach Festival on Saturday (hottest day ever to go) but it was so much fun! We got some cool artwork. We bought some peach wine(YUMMMY), peach pie, peaches and some cider mill donuts! What more could a gal ask for? lol...
Then Sunday we spent the afternoon at my cousin's which was so much fun.
Yesterday was just R&R and homework. Back to school for me was last Thursday. lol...
How was yours? Hope you had as much fun!
I went camping with the family over the weekend. Most of it was spent playing cards, Cribbage in particular. Nothing really exciting, but it was nice to relax with family.
Monday was spent at home cleaning. The bedroom and masterbath both got good top to bottom cleanings. Hoping at some point during this week I can get the kitchen and downstairs bath. And maybe, just maybe, start organizing my craft room.
Nothing exciting, but it was good.
On Sat I watched a bunch of football & we went to DH's grandpa's house for dinner because his aunt's family was in town.
Sun - went to church, farmer's market, took a lovely nap, then went to arts, beats, & eats for a bit with DH's cousins
Yesterday was a crazy cleaning/organizing day. We started out by going to BRU to pick up a bunch of stuff that we didn't get at the shower, then I washed a bunch of baby stuff and got pretty close to getting the whole nursery together. DH worked on cleaning out the storage room in the basement & implementing a new cat box system down there to try to keep things cleaner. We have an entire garage full of stuff we're throwing out from the basement and a few new shelving systems that he put up. We're far from done, but both the nursery and the basement look amazing!
I wanted to go to the Peach festival so bad, but no one would go with me. I should have just went with DD.
If no one will go with you next year, let me know! I had a blast and would love to make it an annual thing.
Plus there was this really
cool local winery that makes yummy custom wines. We bought a delicious
Peach Chardonnay and Peach Pie and the two were so yummy together.
mmmmm.
It sounds like everyone had a great holiday weekend so far!
DH and I were in Marquette starting last weekend for the holiday/vacation. It was gorgeous up there! The weather was so nice and cool! We had a hotel right on Lake Superior and it was so beautiful. We did some sight seeing and hung out around downtown Marquette most of the time. One day was warm enough - we actually spent HOURS swimming in Lake Superior, it was great! the water temperature was so warm from the unseasonably warm summer. DH really enjoyed watching the freighters come in and out of the ore docks while we were there. Saturday I ran the full marathon up there and the weather was perfect - I bettered my personal best time by about 17 minutes, so I was quite pleased. Sunday night we left and spent the night with DH's grandparents in Roscommon. I've only seen them a handful of times since they live up there and don't make it down often, so it was nice to spend some quality time with them!
Saturday - FI and I went to the U of M game. We absolutely baked while walking to the stadium from the car and then while waiting in line to get in. It wasn't too bad once we were in the nose-bleed seats, which actually still had a great view. Then all H-ell broke lose when it started raining...the first time. We had our phones on ous (and didn't want them to get ruined), so we tried to quickly get under the stadium. Of course, traffic got jammed and we didn't get under cover until after it stopped raining. The sun came out, and they resumed the game, so we got a bag for the phones and decided to try to stick it out. Glad we did, because we saw some good football. Unfortunately, a little while later it started raining again. We stuck it out, but after awhile it got colder and rained harder, so I literally said "I've had enough of this," and left FI in the stands while I made my way back down. He eventually joined me, we saw on radar that the storms were going to keep coming, so we took off for the car during a break in the raining. Luckily, we made it back to the car before it started storming again, with thunder and lightening. We heard on the radio that they ended up stopping the game and calling it a Michigan victory, so we didn't miss anything.
Sunday - not much of anything but lounging around. I made a run to English Gardens hoping some Labor Day sales with a Groupon I bought awhile back. I bought 70 small terra cotta vases for favors (50% off) with just a few dollars above my groupon. So overall, spent about $15 for all of them. Score.
Monday - spent time grooming the dog for a show this week, then FI and I hit up AB&E. We had a great time. It was a bit crowded, but that was to be expected, and NOT overly croweded. The festival was MUCH bigger than last year, as far as the footprint. And they worked out some of the spacing issues so that it was easier to get to the sidewalk to shop/eat, avoid foot traffic etc. I, again, recommend that people go!
On Saturday we went up north and visited family. Sunday went to the Peach festival and went to dinner at my Aunt's house. Yesterday we finally saw the last Harry Potter film and did the usual Sunday stuff (laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping). Not a bad weekend, but I could've used another day off.
