Do you HAVE to have a bedskirt?
This might be a dumb question, but is a bed skirt REQUIRED?
We just ordered a new bedroom set--it's a king (let the angels sing!)--so we need to get new bedding. The bed itself doesn't seem like it requires a bedskirt, but I know that if we don't use one at all, areas of the box spring would be visible. So are there any other options that I'm not aware of? Or do we just use a bedskirt regardless?
And, if it matters, this is the bed we ordered: http://www.raymourflanigan.com/newport-king-sleigh-bed-596007801.aspx
Re: Do you HAVE to have a bedskirt?
Once I moved to having a real bed (instead of a bed frame only) we did away with having a bed skirt. I just liked the look better.
Looking at your bed, I wouldn't use one with it, personally.
ETA: Regarding the box spring, are you sure it will show? Ours doesn't - or maybe an inch. If it does, I believe you can get box spring covers so it'll just be white or whatever. Also, when our bed is made the duvet covers so you can't see it anyway.
Also, yay on moving to King. LIFE CHANGING
A box spring cover--brilliant! I did not know such a thing existed. I think I would prefer that to a bedskirt, if it turns out we do in fact need something. I guess I am not 100% certain that the box spring will show, but based on the photos and other beds that I noticed in the showroom last night, it had me thinking. Thank you!
And we are actually moving from a FULL to a king, so yes, I expect it to be life-changing, indeed.

I love this place, Company Store. You can always find coupons too and the quality is really good. This shows some covers (bonus is that they are good to fight against bed bugs. ick). But it also shows some detachable bed skirts which I'd never heard of and seem an interesting option too:

We have a similar type bed and the boxspring can be seen when the bed is not made, which is pretty much everyday! When the bed it made, the blanket hangs down far enough to cover the boxspring.
Someday I plan on putting a fitted sheet over the boxspring so the edges are covered but I'm pretty lazy when it comes to making our bed look nice so it hasn't happened yet.

This is what I was going to suggest. This way it matches your bedding and doesn't have the "boxspring cover" look.
Ditto!!! I don't know how our relationship survived the full!! J/K. But seriously, one of the best decisions we ever made.
And that bed is gorgeous. I don't think you need a bedskirt at all. I find them to be a PITA myself. I like the extra fitted sheet suggestion.
