I hate going to the GYN!

I'll admit, I've been bad. I haven't gone in two years. September 2009 was the last time. At first it was because we had moved, and mine was an hour away. Then once we started investigating this house, I said that I was going to wait until we moved to find one closer to the house. And now, two months after we've moved in, I think I'm out of excuses.

Right by our house is a hospital (like, I could walk there, even if I was bleeding), so I wanted to find an OB-GYN that delivers there so I don't have to change doctors when we get down to the baby-making. I found one whose office is right around the corner from the hospital. So I guess come Monday I'll have to call and schedule an appointment for my annual (ick). And since it will probably be at least a month until I can get an appointment while I'm there I plan to talk to the doctor about and prenatal steps I should be taking for us to start TTC in May.

Re: I hate going to the GYN!

  • I'm not a huge fan, but I go to dentists docs and ob/gyn regularly, because the mild discomfort or whatever it is faaaaar outweighs the benefits of being screened for the things they screen you for.  Better to stay current and in the clear where your health is concerned!

It's good your making yourself do it finally.  Just listen to your ipod during the exam or something :-)

  • I used to go only to male GYNs - something that happened when I was 19 turned me that way. The female doc that I visited at that time was a horrible person and I just could not see anohter female GYN in a long time. I was introduced to Dr Liu (a female) three years ago and I cannot think of going anywhere else anymore... hope this new doctor is to you like my Dr. Liu :)  Crossing fingers for it :)
  • I'm really not a doctor person either. My gyn is actually the only doctor that I have that I love! I have no problem going now because she makes me feel so comfortable. Hopefully someday when DH and I decide to TTC we can move closer to her office, because I couldn't imagine having someone else deliver me!
