Pottery Barn rugs

Does anyone have a Pottery Barn rug?

We are getting the carpet in our dining room pulled up and installing hardwoods to match the rest of the house (I still don't know why the dining room got picked to have carpet--it's where the sliding glass door to the backyard is and the carpet is so worn and disgusting).

So I want an area rug to warm it up a little bit and there are a couple of Pottery Barn rugs I like. They seem fairly reasonably priced. Does anyone have any reviews?

  • We have 1.  It's only been 6 months so I can't speak to long term wear, but it is in the playroom with 2 LOs and a cat and it is holding up well.  We liked it because it was lovely, well priced and a 100% wool (material was important to me).  The only thing I dislike is that it sheds, a lot.  I am sure that will slow down over time (it's relatively new), but DS sometimes looks a little furry after crawling around on it.  All said though, I would buy from them again.

We had a similar experience. We got a rug from that I really love but for the first couple of months it shedded like crazy. Now that we've had it a few years, it doesn't shed at all. It is stained like crazy, though--not sure if we're going to try to get it cleaned or just replace it.

  • We have a wool rug from Pottery Barn in our living room and I love it. We have had it for almost 4 years now and it still looks brand new--this is quite remarkable considering the vast amount of baby spit up that it took for almost a year :-) But wool rugs are pretty indestructible and are easy to clean.

Like both pp, our rug shed like crazy for awhile. It was on par with owning a large hairy dog :-) Big puff balls of carpet fuzz would end up tracked all over the house. And when I would vacuum it, I'd have to empty the canister after just the 9x12 rug because it would suck up so much fuzz. I was totally worried that the rug was falling apart (even though it looked fine), but eventually it stopped shedding so much and like I said, it still looks great.

  • Great! Now to get DH to like the one I like :-)
