How do you celebrate your anniversary?

Maybe this is a bit premature, but I was thinking about it today. We try to take a trip in October every year, but for our anniversary last year we just ordered pizza and watched a scary movie marathon all day.

Re: How do you celebrate your anniversary?

  • Yeah, our first we ended up dressing up fancy and having dinner at home. It was nice though.

Hopefully we'll go somewhere this year. We're thinking about Leavenworth, that's where we had our first trip together. Smile

It's not too premature, especially if you want to plan a trip or something.

  • arty... We probably won't do a whole lot.  Peyton's birthday is only 12 days after our anniversary and that is probably not going to be the cheapest party...

  • We don't  Party!!!

After 31 years...we are all out of fun ideas!

My baby girl is a married woman...and now my baby girl HAS a baby girl. Time unfolds in such an amazing way. I've been blessed!
  • Last year we had just moved in to our house, so we spent the day unpacking. Fun Times..
  • Last year we went away for the weekend. DH's birthday and our anniversary are only 2 weeks apart so we combined both and went away. This year we will get a babysitter and go out for a nice dinner.

  • Last year we had dinner and spent the night in the hotel where we spent our wedding night.

This year, we're thinking about driving up to Quebec for a long weekend, kind of recreating our honeymoon without the 8-hour plane ride :)

  • We are going to try to go somewhere for our anniversary every year when possible.  Last year I got a groupon for a local resort which we stayed at for the weekend.  This year, I got another one for a different resort.
  • We're going to Yosemite this year and I am so excited! I've never been and I hear it's simply amazing. Last year we went to Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterrey for a long weekend, so I guess going on little trips is our anniversary M.O.

  • Is it bad that I don't even remember what we did last year? I know we had a Halloween party and drank way to much the night before so it's a good chance we did nothing but recuperate. This year we are going to the Crownest Pass and going abandonded house hunting! I can't wait.

  • Last year we were visiting SIL and BIL in Alabama for the weekend. We haven't made any plans for this year yet. We'll see... Hopefully something eventful!

  • Last year we went to the French Lick Springs Resort for a long weekend.  This year will probably be spent unpacking (whether we find a house or not, I'm already packing!).  Maybe we'll celebrate later in the fall with another trip.
    Matt loves Munkii!!!
  • Last year we went on a trip in September that was for our anniversary (work was too busy for me to leave in October and we couldn't have used my free employee hotel nights where we went in November).  On our actual anniversary we had BBQ at home from the company that catered out wedding.  Smile

This year our Israel trip was supposed to be for our birthdays and anniversary but we're trying to work out another trip using my employee hotel nights so we may end up going on another trip for our anniversary while I still have that perk at work.

  • Last year we went to dinner, but it was kind of crappy due to some drama on the part of my brother's ex-gf...I won't go into details because this is supposed to be a fun post!

This year? Hopefully a nice, quiet dinner out (we'll leave the little man with a sitter) but his b-day is 10 days after our anniversary, so we won't be doing anything extravagant since we have a party to throw, much like HiggyFan :).

  • Last year, we went to Chicago for the weekend (that's not too far-fetched for us, it's about a 5 hr. drive) to see friends who were running the marathon there.  We stayed with friends, but for the night of our anniversary, we splurged for a hotel room downtown.

While there, DH gave me a present (even though we decided the trip and the hotel was each other's present).  It was 2 tickets to see Bill Cosby a couple weeks later, which was fabulous, by the way.

Just last night, DH found out that Ben Folds is coming to town, to play with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra!  We're fans anyway -- we were THIS close to using one of his songs as our first dance song at the wedding! -- so we got the tickets as an anniversary present (it's about 3 weeks after Oct. 10th, but whatever).  Hopefully, this "tickets to an event" theme will continue!

  • Last year, we took our dog to the park and then got dressed up and went out to dinner.  This year we are going to Kauai (honeymoon spot).  We haven't had time for a vacation this year, so we decided to go big....or I decided Big Smile

HUGE BF Fan too, Kellie! I just saw him (again) in San Francisco- Best show so far, and I've seen several. I can only imagine how great he'll be with an orchestra!

  • Last year we went away to Berkeley Springs, WV for the weekend, and had SUCH an amazing time. This year funds are a little tighter, and we're saving for a big trip in the spring, so we'll probably just go out for a nice dinner in DC.

  • We celebrate our anniversaries so boringly, apparently! You all do such fun stuff!

I should also add that DH and I are BIG BIG Dexter fans and the new season premieres the night before our actual anniversary...we decided that Showtime is helping us celebrate :).

  • This year the budget is pretty tight, paying off some things. As long as there's cake, anything we do will be cool.

That's how I feel!  Smile  Trips are great but I'm pretty sure after this year we'll be doing cake and BBQ for quite a while!

  • Typically we go out to dinner.  The only complication is that our anniversary is also my birthday, which sometimes requires a bit of juggling.
  • Last year on our anniversary day we went and had dinner at the restaurant where we had done our rehearsal dinner, then we came home and ate the top layer of our wedding cake and had champagne.  Then a week later we took a trip up to the mountains, and rented a cabin.  I'm hoping to go back up to the mountains again this year......
