Printing pictures

Where do you print pictures? I've had mixed luck with a couple different Walgreens and Walmarts in the area. I'm willing to pay more to get prints that are colored and contrasted as I edited them and not auto-adjusted to some level that I don't like. At this point, I'm willing to order online and have them shipped to me instead of doing a 1-hour in store deal, but I want to know I'm going to get quality prints. I hate editing pics a certain way, and then have the printer adjust the contrast or coloring and it comes out very differently on paper.

Re: Printing pictures

  • One of the photographer nesties had recommended winkflash.com for prints a while back. I've bookmarked the site. Bonus: they're local (North Kingstown), so turnaround from ordering to having them in your hands is very quick!

  • That being said, I don't get prints all that often. I used to have an at-home printer, but it died on me and I haven't gotten another one. I usually get mine from CVS if I need prints.

  • I usually use mpix.com. I have a friend that is a photographer and she recommended them. You can choose your paper and have just about whatever you want done.  I really cant say enough good things about the site.

Picaboo is also pretty good. I used them when I had a groupon and was pleased.

  • I just use CVS - but I don't do anything to the images before I send them or anything, so I'm not sure how good they are with that! I upload to their website and they process and send to the individual store.

  • I use winkflash.  Their customer service is awesome.  Once, I ordered enlargements and didn't like the way the picture was cropped.  It was total user error on my part, and they let me reorder them at no charge.  The shipping is relatively quick.  And you can usually get .6 cent prints with a promo code.
  • I think MPIX.com has the best quality.  It is definitely pricier than the other sites but if you want great quality - they are best.  Winkflash has been better than Snapfish/Shutterfly.  CVS is not bad if you print them in the store on their kiosks that you can individually edit but I usually like to edit at home and then print from a site online.
  • Thanks for all the suggestions! I think I'll try winkflash first since their prices are cheap even with shipping. If they don't cut it for me, I'll try out mpix.

    Thanks again!
