Tuesday Confessions

I had the idea and opportunity to do something really funny and didn't.

So... our favorite blogger is trying to get a pic of Nathan Fillion holding twine. Since she stated that she would be willing to accept dental floss as a substitute, I figured - hey why not another substitute? I had the idea of asking Felicia Day (the girl from Dr. Horrible, if you're not familiar with her awesomeness) to take a photo holding dental floss. I was excited to do it, and since I was going to get an autograph and pic anyway, why not?

Then I chickened out (pun intended, kind of). I second-guessed myself and thought it was stupid. Then she posted this. Now I wish I had. :(

It was stressful at times, but I think we'll do it again. We worked 14.5 hrs on Thursday, handling registration and getting badges for those who could not manage the lines. It wasn't so bad for me, since I was doing data entry. Poor DH was a "runner" and was in a lot of pain by the end of the night. We helped out with a few panels and costume contests too.

The worst part on Thursday was when the new registration system went down for a few hours. We have nothing to do with it (we just go get the badges and apply disability stickers, if needed) and it caused a huge back-log for us. A few people got irate. By the end of the evening, everything was nice & smooth though. We worked registration again Friday night for a few hrs and saw a flash mob.

It just felt good to help out and it was nice to get to know the other staff members. It's funny - Dragon*Con has over 1,800 volunteer staff - that's more than some cons' total attendance!

  • That's cool. Dragon*Con is one of my favorite city events. I walked down to the parade on Saturday and had a blast talking to everyone on my way and seeing everyone all dressed up. It must be one of the happiest large events the city has.

  • I confess I just cried the whole way home from the dr.  =(  For the first time my blood pressure was high.  This has always been a risk b/c of my stupid elevated HCG level but until today, all signs pointed to everything being great.  Al my last 3 apts my bp was actually boderline low plus I did a 24 hour urine catch that came back normal.  Well today it was 124/88.  When I told the dr (really nurse practioner which I was already annoyed about seeing and this didn't help) we were leaving Friday for our babymoon she said I had to come back on Thursday and if my bp was still high I couldn't go.  CryingCryingCryingCryingCryingCrying

I know I have to put the health and safety of the baby first but I am going to be beyond devestated if we can't go on our trip.  I NEED a vacation and we were both so excited about taking Roxey to the beach!

Can I get some nestie vibes that my bp is down on Thursday and we get to go?  Please.
